During the 1500’s royalty and clergy wore chains to show their office and status.  You MUST have a good working knowledge of CRAW.  If not, talk to us about getting you the right skills needed so you can join this class.  Instructor: Liz Thompson.

Come Meet Duane Collins - This Saturday!

Hello!  We are very excited to announce that Duane Collins (Elements Pottery) is bringing all of his raku beads & pendants to Stony Creek Bead this Saturday, June 21st.

Duane just told us that he and his family are moving to Colorado at the end of this month.  While we are happy for him and wish him luck in his new adventure, we are sad to see such a talented artist leave Michigan. 

This may be your one and only time to meet the man behind the art, so we hope that you will stop in and say hello.

Duane is a raku artist, specializing in small scale work.  A variety of beads, pendants, cabochons, buttons,

and other components combined with a variety of color, texture, surface finish, and special effects create a wide palette of design elements for jewelry designers,.  Unique creations, attention to detail, and fabulous colors are his trademark.  He resides in Michigan and has been a ceramic artist for 35 years.

We have had Duane Collins’ amazing Raku beads and pendants in our shop for a couple of years. Many of you are familiar with his art, now come meet the man in person. He recently told us that he is working on some new designs that will premiere at this show. Come early to see – and buy – all the new stuff!

The Sea Glass Line – Spending hours on the beach garners sea glass of all sizes and shapes, and she uses it as the base for these designs.  Kathy lets the shape and texture of the glass dictate the design, so every piece is truly unique.

The Geometric Line -   Repeating patterns and bold colors dominate this series.  If you want a statement piece like no other, be sure to check out this group.

The Nature Line – From animals to acorns, nymphs to nautical creatures – this line is for nature fans, and lovers of whimsy.

A New Contest...

Derby Hat or Fascinator Contest!

Why a Derby Hat or Fascinator? 
Well, why not?  For generations women in the South have been wearing fabulous hats and fascinators to derbies, tea parties, luncheons, and anywhere else that they want to show off or outshine their neighbors.  If they can do it, so can we!

Your designs can be big and bold, whimsical and witty, sedate and seductive (or any other combination of adjectives) - but they must all be fun to create and to wear.

When Is My Hat or Fascinator Due ?
Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 3 pm.

Winner to be announced between 3:30 and 4 pm

In order to be considered for judging, and thus eligible to win one of the prizes, your design must be at Stony Creek Bead no later than 3pm on Saturday, May 10.

 

We hope that you will come a bit early and show off your creation.  However, if you cannot be here at that time, we will accept them earlier.

RULES

1. Some of the beads or materials  must be purchased at Stony Creek Bead. (It's our contest, after all.)

2. This should be a new creation, not previously entered into any other contest. (Because you should have a new hat or fascinator as often as possible.)

3. To be considered for the Grand Prize, your creation must be wearable.  (While wall art or statuary pieces are admirable, this contest is all about beautiful head gear!)

Did Someone Say Prizes?
Yep, that's right!  We have decided that everyone who enters will get a prize, and

the Grand Winner will receive a $75 gift card to Stony Creek Bead and a $50 gift card to LushLapel.

What A Challenge!
